Fail: Woman tries to kill husband 3 different times, gets arrested

Try as she might, investigators say Dalia Dippolito could not get the knack of killing her husband.

Newly released court records allege that before the Boynton Beach woman’s arrest in August on charges of trying to hire a hitman to murder her newlywed spouse, Dippolito had already tried to kill him twice.

She looked for a hitman on the streets of Riviera Beach; she tried to poison his Starbucks tea, police say.

When nothing seemed to work, she finally called a close friend and asked for his help in knocking off Michael Dippolito, 38.

The friend responded by calling Boynton Beach police, who set Dippolito up with an undercover officer and ultimately staged a fake murder scene at her house that made her a cable-news sensation.

But that came after the gym-and-plastic-surgery fanatic, 26, took a trip to Riviera Beach, trying to strike up a deal with men who claimed to be hitmen, records released Monday show. She paid them, but they took the money and disappeared.

So, detectives say, she tried to take things into her own hands. She went online and researched poisons.

One day in late July she brought home two teas from Starbucks. One had been laced with odorless anti-freeze.

Michael Dippolito told police he took a sip and spit it out. Even so, the foul taste lingered in his mouth and stomach problems ailed him for days.

Charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder, Dippolito is on house arrest at her parents’ Boynton Beach home. Her attorney, Michael Salnick, declined to comment on the case Monday.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to divorce instead of resorting to murder? Some people either do not think clearly or they think nothing of killing someone.
