NFL Week 15 Odds: San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The San Francisco 49ers could be in for a trap game Sunday in Tampa Bay. The Niners are coming off a very emotional, physical win over hated rival Seattle and have to travel across country and play in a 10 a.m. Pacific time game. The Bucs, meanwhile, have nothing to lose. Tampa is much improved, winning four of five after an 0-8 start.
The 49ers are still chasing a postseason berth and will likely need to win out the final three weeks of the regular season to improve playoff seeding.
“Our guys are professionals, they know what’s at stake,” Jim Harbaugh said on Wednesday. “This game is the biggest game on the schedule. This is a must-win game and just win. And do whatever it takes to get that. By any means necessary.”
San Francisco has won three straight following two-game skid dropping defending NFC champions to 6-4. The 49ers are sixth in NFL in rushing, averaging 133.2 yards. They’re last in passing offence at 178.3 yards per game. San Francisco RB Frank Gore needs 61 yards rushing to reach 1,000 for seventh time. Gore rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown as the 49ers won the most recent meeting 48-3 on Oct. 9, 2011.
Bucs rookie QB Mike Glennon is coming off consecutive games in which his progress stalled. Has thrown three interceptions and lost fumble over past two games. Glennon threw for 90 yards, two TDs, one interception in rout of struggling Bills last week. .The Bucs are 31st in league, just ahead of 49ers, in passing offense (180.8 yards).
Greg Schiano’s team is coming off one of its best defensive efforts of the season, allowing 214 yards and forcing five turnovers in a 27-6 win over Buffalo. It allowed an average of 412.0 yards and 23.6 points over its previous three games.
