Wednesday college basketball odds: Nebraska at No. 2 Michigan
Poised to tie the best start in school history, it wouldn’t appear that the red-hot University of Michigan would have much trouble Wednesday night with visiting Nebraska – bet on the game at WagerWeb.com.
The Wolverines, who rank No. 2 nationally in field-goal percentage and No. 7 in scoring, have rarely been tested this season. Last time out, they beat Iowa 95-67. Star Trey Burke had 19 points and a career-high 12 assists for the second-ranked Wolverines. Robinson had 20 points and 10 rebounds. With 7:00 remaining in the first half, Michigan had only 17 points, making the eventual final score that much more startling.
Michigan (15-0, 2-0 Big Ten) is a win away from matching the program’s best start to a season. The 1985-86 team began 16-0. The Wolverines shot 58 percent from the field and 10 of 22 from 3-point range. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 19 points for Michigan. It was the fourth straight game in which Michigan made at least 10 shots from 3-point range. It was the third time in four games the Wolverines scored at least 90 points. They’ve never previously averaged more than 67 under coach John Beilein.
Nebraska has lost its first two Big Ten games and was beaten in an ugly game last time out by Wisconsin, 44-41. The Huskers (9-6, 0-2), coming off a 70-44 loss at Ohio State in their conference opener, have averaged just 42 points the last four meetings with the Badgers. Ray Gallegos and Dylan Talley scored 12 points apiece and Brandon Ubel added 10 for the Huskers. Wisconsin held Nebraska to one basket over the last 6:19.
This is the only time this season Nebraska and Michigan will meet in the conference regular season. Last season, Zack Novak scored 14 points en route to recording his 1,000th career point in Lincoln, Neb., as the Wolverines claimed a 62-46 win at the Devaney Center. It was the first meeting of the two programs since 1992.
Michigan is 10-0 at Crisler Center this season and 25-1 over the last two seasons. The Wolverines average 84.3 points at home, outscoring their opponents by 26.7 points. Over his last 10 games, Burke has 79 assists (7.9 apg) to just 11 total turnovers. He is sixth in the nation (as of Jan. 7) with 7.5 assists per game.
