Tuesday college basketball odds: No. 3 Kansas at No. 11 Kansas State

First place in the Big 12 is on the line Tuesday night in Manhattan, Kansas, when Kansas State and Kansas renew their heated rivalry, with the red-hot Jayhawks opening as 3-point road favorites. Check our current odds.

Kansas enters off a 64-59 win at Texas. Freshman Ben McLemore scored 16 points and the Jayhawks stormed back late in the second half from an 11-point deficit — nearly their biggest all season — to stun the Longhorns for their 15th straight victory. Jeff Withey added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks (16-1, 4-0 Big 12), who looked bound for their first loss since Nov. 13 against Michigan State before McLemore piloted a rally that thwarted the reeling Longhorns from seizing a badly needed victory in this troubled season.

Kansas State (15-2, 4-0) has been a surprise under former Illinois coach Bruce Weber. The Wildcats won 69-60 at home against Oklahoma on Saturday. Rodney McGruder scored 20 points and Will Spradling added 15 for KSU. Shane Southwell and Angel Rodriguez both added 12 points for Kansas State. Southwell had seven rebounds, and Rodriguez had nine assists.

Kansas is 16-1 or better for the third time in the last four seasons and the fifth time in the 10 years of the Bill Self era. KU is 4-0 in Big 12 play for the second-straight season and the seventh time under Self. Kansas leads the nation with a 15-game winning streak. Kansas State is tied for eighth with an eight-game winning streak.

KU is second with a 32-game home-court winning streak. Kansas State’s 12-game home-court winning streak is tied for 13th nationally. Kansas State is the third ranked team KU has faced in 2012-13. The Jayhawks are 1-1 against ranked foes with a 67-64 loss to then-No. 21/22 Michigan State (1/13) at the Champions Classic in Atlanta and won at then-No. 7/7 Ohio State, 74-66, on Dec. 22. Dating back to when KSU’s Bramlage Coliseum opened for the 1987-88 season, Kansas is a mindboggling 22-2 against Kansas State in the venue.

The Wildcats have won two of the last five meetings with the Jayhawks at Bramlage. Since the inception of the Big 12 Conference, Kansas is 29-3 in regular-season battles and 36-3 including Big 12 Championship meetings versus Kansas State. Self is 19-3 all-time against Kansas State, including 18-3 while at KU. Bruce Weber is 0-1 against Kansas.
