Milwaukee at Washington – Brewers RHP Wily Peralta (2-0, 2.14) vs. Nationals LHP Gio Gonzalez (19-8, 2.95): Against the Mets on Sunday, Peralta had both his stuff and command, and the result was eight scoreless innings in which the Mets managed only one hit beyond the infield. The Brewers have won all three of Peralta’s starts. … It took Gonzalez 83 pitches to get through three innings, but he battled into the sixth on 110 pitches in a loss to Atlanta on Sunday. He couldn’t find the strike zone early, but got on track when a teammate told him to pitch with more confidence.

St. Louis at Chicago Cubs – Cardinals RHP Adam Wainwright (13-13, 3.97) vs. Cubs LHP Travis Wood (6-12, 4.25): While some fear he’s getting fatigued, Wainwright is proving otherwise. A two-run homer accounted for the only runs he gave up on Sunday. With his arm slot issues righted, Wainwright said he feels he is back on the right track. … The lefty Wood took the loss in his last outing against the Pirates, despite striking out a personal high nine batters. Wood is holding hitters to a .184 average in his last four starts. He’s 0-2 vs. the Cardinals, losing back-to-back starts in July.

Miami at NY Mets – Marlins LHP Mark Buehrle (13-12, 3.78) vs. Mets RHP R.A. Dickey (18-6, 2.67): Buehrle is at 188 1/3 innings, and he is well positioned to reach 200 innings for the 12th straight season. The lefty beat the Reds in his last start, giving up four runs in 7 2/3 innings, his longest outing since July 5. … Dickey is still searching for his 19th win. He allowed three runs over seven innings against the Phillies on Monday and added eight strikeouts to bring his season total to 205, but the Mets’ offense provided little support in the 3-1 loss.

Atlanta at Philadelphia – Braves LHP Mike Minor (9-10, 4.31) vs. Phillies RHP Roy Halladay (10-7, 4.03): Minor earned his third straight win last time out, turning in his sixth quality start in his last eight appearances. In six innings, he gave up just one run on five hits as the Braves completed a sweep of the Nats. He walked two and fanned three. … Halladay just hasn’t gotten on track this season. He struggled early, landed on the disabled list with a strained right lat and even after coming back healthy, he hasn’t been consistent. He is 4-0 in his last six starts, but also has a 4.70 ERA.

LA Dodgers at Cincinnati – Dodgers RHP Stephen Fife (0-1, 2.49) vs. Reds RHP Mat Latos (12-4, 3.76): The 25-year-old rookie Fife gets the fifth start of his career and his first as an every-fifth-day starter. Against the Cardinals on Sept. 16, Fife allowed two runs on four hits over five innings. He also strikeout nine while walking just one. … Latos earned his second straight no-decision in his last start against the Marlins. He held a one-run lead with two outs in the eighth inning before Jose Reyes’ RBI double. Latos has pitched at least six innings in four straight outings.

Pittsburgh at Houston – Pirates RHP Kevin Correia (11-9, 4.09) vs. Astros LHP Dallas Keuchel (2-7, 4.97): Two months after being removed from the rotation to make room for Wandy Rodriguez, Correia is the Bucs’ hottest starter (10 wins in last 14 decisions) as he goes for his 12th win, which would tie a career high. … The rookie left-hander Keuchel is coming off his second career win, throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings to beat the Phillies on Saturday. He had lost his previous seven decisions since throwing a complete game on June 23 against Cleveland.

Arizona at Colorado – Diamondbacks LHP Patrick Corbin (6-7, 4.02) vs. Rockies LHP Jeff Francis (5-6, 5.58): Corbin was dominant in his last start, holding the Giants to two runs in eight innings while striking out five. The last time the rookie faced the Rockies was back in May, when he surrendered six runs in six innings. … Francis stayed mostly ahead of hitters for five solid innings and held the Giants to two runs on six hits in his last start. However, he received no run support and absorbed the loss.

San Diego at San Francisco – Padres LHP Andrew Werner (2-1, 3.68) vs. Giants LHP Madison Bumgarner (15-10, 3.26): Werner got a no-decision his last time out against the Rockies, allowing five earned runs in five innings. He allowed two home runs. This was the first time in his first five Major League starts that he allowed more than two earned runs. … Bumgarner handed out a career-high five walks in his last outing and said his mechanics were the worst he’s had this season, but still held the Rockies to one run in six innings. He picked up his 15th win, the most for a Giants lefty since 2000.
