Washington Post Digs Digg’s Grave

Yesterday news that the Washington Post was buying the once-hot Digg shocked much of the tech world, but it now looks like that’s only partially true.

TechCrunch later reported that the Post was actually only “acquiring” Digg’s tech team, not the site or its assets. Digg, which has been seeking a buyer for months, will be left to fend for itself with whatever staff it has left, while the Post integrates the Digg crew with the team already working on its Social Reader app for Facebook, sources tell All Things Digital. No comment from Digg or the Post.
