Philip Seymour Hoffman Joins ‘Catching Fire’

The Hunger Games are getting some major star power: Philip Seymour Hoffman has just been cast as Plutarch Heavensbee in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s bestselling novel.

Heavensbee, who replaces Seneca Crane as the new Head Gamemaker in the second installment of the Hunger Games trilogy, is a complex character who doesn’t reveal his true alliances until the end of the book.

But complex roles are nothing new for the Oscar winner, 44, as shown by The Ides of March, Moneyball and Capote (for which he was named Best Actor).

Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth will be back, but no word yet on who will play the studly Finnick.
