NBC plans tribute show for Betty White’s 90th birthday

NBC is set to throw a big birthday special for ’s 90th early next year.

God willing, White will be saying “Hello” to the Big 9-0 on Jan. 17. The Peacock Network — where Betty spent seven seasons playing dim-witted St. Olafian Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls — wants to mark the occasion with a televised special, TV Guide reported Thursday.

The plan is for White’s expansive career to be celebrated at a gala in Los Angeles in December for a taped event that will air near her actual birthday. The party will include tributes from White’s co-stars from her TV Land sitcom, Hot in Cleveland, as well as the old gang from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where the last surviving “Golden Girl” played Sue Ann Nivens from 1973 to 1977.
