Jon & Kate Plus 8 off the air until August 3rd

Jon & Kate Plus 8 is off the air — at least for now. TLC has announced that its hit reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 is taking a production break following the news that series stars Jon and Kate Gosselin are divorcing after ten years of marriage.

So far, only six new episodes of the show’s 40-episode order have aired.

The show will go on hiatus following a retrospective episode of Jon and Kate’s ten year marriage that will air on June 29. The next all-new episode of the series expected to air on August 3, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The family — which includes the Gosselin’s eight children — has been drowned in tabloid drama since reports surfaced accusing both Jon and Kate of infidelity earlier this year. The drama helped draw the show’s largest audience ever when the Jon & Kate Plus 8 Season 5 opener premiered to nearly 10 million viewers — setting a network record.

“TLC continues to support the Gosselin family and will work closely with them to determine the best way to continue to tell their story as they navigate through this difficult time,” the network says following the Gosselin’s announcement that they are separating.

“During this time the family will take some time off to regroup and then a modified schedule will be in place to support the family’s transition,” the statement concludes.
